Digistar Generated Constellations 

 

 

These programs are live presentations. Each involve student interactions and participation. Each live presentation is tailored to the individual grade level. The programs are approximately 1 hour in length.

Ages 3-5 years 

Basic awareness of the day and night sky are investigated with the help of models, stories, and the planetarium projector.  Due to the special characteristics of this age group, the program length will vary between 30 minutes and an hour, according to attention span. 


All Grades

A basic introduction to the sky. All of the bright planets and most of the brightest stars and prominent constellations currently visible in the early evening will be found. Storytelling and student interaction will be used to enhance learning.


Grades K-5 

Solar system information is presented using models, photos, and student interaction. Students learn to find the bright planets in the current sky.


Grades 2-5 

After watching the moon in the sky, students will look for ways to explain the changes observed. Lunar folklore and moon travel also will be discussed.


 

The following programs are recorded shows. Each lasts approximately 1/2 hour and is followed by a live presentation of the current evening sky.

Grades Pre-1

Come and explore familiar objects in the sky with Mister Rogers and your favorite characters from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Children television personality Fred Penner writes and narrates this curious tour of the natural wonders found close to home and in the night sky.


Grades Pre-2

Come along with our sun, Sol, and his friend Astro Nomy as they take a trip through the solar system. Along the way, they discover what makes each planet special.


Grades K-3

Join Rusty as he leads the rookie rockets on a tour of the solar system.


Grades K-3 

Two children build a rocket and take an imaginary trip through the solar system with the help of a special guide.


Grades K-3 

In this show, Little Star sets out on a journey in hopes of becoming a special star, only to discover the importance of being ordinary.


Grades 1-4

Follow the adventures of Larry Cat as he stows away aboard a rocket to the Moon.


Grades 2-5

The story of how a slave family escaped to freedom using the Underground Railroad and the stars of the Drinking Gourd (The Big Dipper).


Grades 3-5 

Join Sam Snork, P.I. (Planetary Investigator), and his sidekick, Elmo, as they try to locate the source of a strange signal coming from one of the planets.


Grades 3 and up 

Listen to stories of the stars told by Native American Master Storytellers. In this show, you will hear two stories. Spring Defeats Winter: A Seneca tale retold by Joseph Bruchac (Abenaki) and Why Coyote Howls: A star story retold by Lynn Moroney (Chickasaw).


Grades 5 and up 

Produced in the format of a fictitious top 40's radio station. All topics and songs have an astronomical theme.


Grades 6 and up 

James Earl Jones narrates this tour of the universe.  Provides a fine summary of the kinds of objects found in the universe, from planets to galaxies to supernovae.


Grades 6 and up

Our home galaxy is an enormous celestial pinwheel, brimming with billions of stars and exotic space oddities. How is it that such unearthly conditions gave rise to humans? Explore with us the answer modern astronomy provides.


Grade 8 and up

This multidisciplinary journey follows the history of life from the Big Bang to DNA. Ideal for general science, biology, or astronomy classes.


Grade 8 and up

This show takes a close look at the Milky Way galaxy and then sets sail for the galaxies beyond.

While facts would appear to favor the existence of life beyond Earth, statistics are not the whole story. Join us as Leonard Nimoy, narrates a logical examination of the evidence for life elsewhere in the universe.

Einstein's discoveries penetrated the hearts of stars and help to explore the mysteries of black holes. Come with us and explore the life and achievements of one of the greatest scientists of all time.


Come along on a fantastic voyage to the edge of all we know. This show takes the audience on a journey to super massive black holes, giant galaxy clusters, the universe's earliest moments, and even to parallel universes which challenge our imagination.


Many of the familiar customs that we observe this time of year have an astronomical connection. Our holiday offering explores the traditions that we associate with this special season. Offered only from Thanksgiving to Christmas.


Multi-program Sequence

Teachers who desire a more intensive experience might wish to consider bringing their class for more than one presentation.  Two or more programs can be scheduled as a multiple-visit series. In addition we offer a 3-lesson sequence in observational astronomy. Call us for further information.
