Public Observing Nights.

Approximately one Friday and Saturday evening per warmer month the MSU Observatory will open its doors for public observing. The MSU 0.6 meter (24 inch) telescope will be setup for viewing on selected astronomical objects. Also, smaller telescopes are set up in the observatory parking lot, with both local area and MSU astronomers on hand to answer questions.


Public observing nights in 2015 will take place on the following days:

  • April 16, 18 (Please note that this is a Thursday and Saturday for MSU Science Festival)
  • May 22, 23
  • June 26, 27*
  • July 24, 25*
  • August 21, 22*
  • September 18, 19
  • October 16, 17

Observing takes place from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (*starts at 9:30)
Sky conditions permitting.
The MSU Observatory is located at the corner of Forest and College Roads:
