REU Program

The Center for Sensor Materials supports the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) sites in the Departments of Physics & Astronomy and of Chemistry. Both REU sites have been instilled with strong materials relevance as a result of active mentoring by CSM faculty.

The REU program runs for 10 weeks during the summer, beginning early June to mid August, giving research experience to undergraduate sophomores and juniors. The Chemistry research focuses on synthesis, modeling and characterization of materials. For Physics/Astronomy research, projects are available for students to work in accelerator physics, acoustics, astronomy, astrophysics, atomic, chemical, computational, condensed matter, high energy, low temperature, medical or nuclear physics.
