LON-CAPA Directions
- To view and answer problems, students should dial into:
http://msu.lon-capa.org
- Use the MSU PILOT ID and password; and set the domain to "MSU".
- Once logged in, click the "select" button to enter the course area.
- The first open problem should now be displayed. Click the "NAV" button
on the remote control to view the sets in their entirety.
- To work on a problem, click on any problem in the list. When the problem
is answered correctly, there will be a note next to the problem stating that
it is solved.
- To view a summary of your points, click on the "GRDS" button on the
remote.
- To print a problem, or an entire set, click on the "PRT" button on
the remote while viewing a problem from that set.
Click on either the "current document" or the "all problems from the primary
sequence" buttons depending on whether you wish to print one problem or the
entire set. It is recommended to print the problems out with 2 columns in
portrait mode.
After you click the "submit your choice" button, you will get a mostly blank
screen with a link "Your PDF document".
In order to receive your document in a printable form, your computer must
have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed which allows you to view and print
PDF (portable document format) documents. This is installed on all the Help
Room computers. You can download a free version by visiting http://www.adobe.com.
Once Acrobat opens up displaying your document, you can print from the file
menu in the Acrobat viewer.
- For more help, dial into: http://help.lon-capa.org.
LON-CAPA FAQ
- I can't log on! Can you help me?
You can make sure your pilot ID is working by logging
onto pilot.msu.edu. If you don't remember your password, dial into: http://help.msu.edu/pilot/getpw.html.
Otherwise, you may not be enrolled. To check on whether you are enrolled,
email prattsc@msu.edu, and specifically ask to check enrollement. Please
visit the help room if you still have problems.
- The GRADES page accessed by the GRDS button on the remote lists the
wrong number of possible points. What am I missing?
Don't worry. Simply ignore the number of possible
points column. Click on the NAV button to see if you have solved your problems.
- I am getting a message that
I can no longer access problems.
Again, don't worry if the screen accessed from the NAV button says you have
solved all the problems. The system is new and still rather quirky.
