Advanced Topics and the "Fancy Stuff"
- EVE/EDFOR HTML Style
If you edit a file named filename.HTML using
EVE/EDFOR on MSUPA, then many of the most common
HTML structures may be automatically generated by macros consisting
of "<Keypad-Enter>"+<letter>.
"<Keypad-Enter>"+<Keypad-PF2> will induce a listing of
available macros to be displayed.
- Image Maps
Example
The next generation of Image Map will allow for client-side co-ordinate
translation: when you run the pointer over the image, the status line will
be able to show the link names (as it will for standard text links now),
instead of just x-y co-ordinates, as they do now.
- Access limitations
- Forms
Example
- CGI programs and Server-Side Includes
such as:
Date: Sunday, 20 July 2008
Time: 20:32:55 EDT
- One use for such programs is to provide the current status of
non-permanent information (such as the access time generated above);
- another is to provide ad hoc security provisions for
information access (when a server's built-in security features may
be either overkill or insufficient in some way).
- Scanners
- CMP Scanner in Room 203B
- HEP Scanner
- Scanning Software
- Optical Character Recognition Software
Scanner training will be available from one of our
student assistants during Summer Semester 1996.
