F1.01 RECTILINEAR PROPAGATION

Light from a point source passes through a square aperature onto a screen. A straight string is run from the source, through and touching one corner of the aperature, to the corner of the illuminated area on the screen.

F1.02 LISSAJOUS MUSIC

One channel of a stereo signal feeds the vertical input of an oscilloscope, and the other channel feeds the horizontal input. The oscilloscope will display a Lissajous pattern that follows the music.

F1.03 INVERSE SQUARE LAW

Light from a point source passes through a square aperature onto a screen. The area illuminated on the screen can be compared with the area of the aperature and related to their distances from the source. A photometer is used to investigate how the light received varies with the inverse square of the distance from the source.

F1.04 INVERSE SQUARE MODEL

Areas of 1, 4, and 16 units are shown at distances of 1, 2, and 4 from a point source in cross section of a wire pyramid.

F1.05 ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT - FLUORESCENCE

Examples of fluorescent objects: minerals, Tide boxes, etc. Long and short wavelength ultraviolet light give different appearances.
