RAMGauge An accidental compilation RamGauge is one of my favorite extensions, and has been for quite some time. It is the perfect extension: small, useful, and easy to write. One glance at the menu bar, and you know exactly how much memory you have to burn. It is especially nice when there is so little that Finder won't let you use "About This Macintosh..." Unfortunately, none of the other Syzygy Cult members liked to use it because, for a variety of obscure reasons, it refused to run on any machine not identical to my own. Next, Dustin overhauled it completely, and it worked for everyone with one small problem: it was occupying the exact same space as both SuperClock, the System Clock and all the other clocks in the world. So RAMGauge is now a Control Panel. It allows itself to be switched on and off, moved around, its display configured, and other such sundry accomplishments. You don't even need to restart for it to install: just open the control panel and it installs itself automatically. I hope that this will make everyone's computing a little less harried. It is even neater because in Total Memory mode it tends to track System activity as well. Also, we would like to make more "accidental compilations", so please send any ideas, the more marginally unworthy, the better. If you have any ideas for useful things, we could use those as well. Send comments to SyzygyCult@aol.com. Thanks, -Jake Beal
