Transportation

The DØ workshop will be held in the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building ("BPS") on the central campus at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.

Flights

The airport code for the Lansing airport is "LAN". Several airlines are serving the Lansing airport. Once you land in Lansing, you should take a Taxi to your hotel or to Owen Graduate Center. If you stay at the Kellogg Center then you can also use their airport shuttle, which operates only during the day time.

An alternative to the Lansing airport is the Detroit International Airport, code "DET", with a lot more airlines. You will have to rent a car to drive from Detroit to Lansing (see below).

Train

If you prefer a relaxing journey to the workshop, then maybe the Amtrak train is for you. There are several trains going to East Lansing. The 364 Blue Water train starts at Union Station in downtown Chicago, gets to East Lansing in about 4.5 hours, and continues on to Port Huron, Michigan. It stops in East Lansing, right next to the MSU campus. It's about a 20 minute walk from the train station to Owen Hall or the Kellogg Center. The train ticket costs $29 each way. The train doesn't run on Saturdays, so you'll have to go back to Chicago on Friday. You can also take the train to Battle Creek and then a bus from Battle Creek to East Lansing. The bus/train combination takes about the same amount of time as the direct train.
Once you're at train station, follow the on-campus directions to find your hotel or the dorm.

Driving Directions

Driving from the Detroit airport:

The easiest way to get to MSU from the Detroit airport is to get onto I94 West coming out of the airport. After about 3.5 miles, go North on I275 towards Flint (exit 194). Follow that for about 18 miles. I275 merges with I96. Then go West on I96. Take exit 106b to go North on Hwy 127, and exit onto Trowbridge Road (exit 9). This will take you straight onto the MSU Campus. The whole trip is about 90 miles and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Directions according to google maps.

Driving from Fermilab:

To get to MSU from Fermilab, take I88 East to I294 East to I94 East. This will take you through Indiana and into Michigan. At exit 108 in Michigan, go North on I69. When you get close to Lansing, go East on I496 (exit 95). This will take you through Lansing. Take exit 9 onto Trowbridge Road, which will take you straight onto the MSU Campus. The whole trip is about 250 miles and takes about 4 hours.

Directions once you're on campus:

We have a map in pdf format to show you how to walk/drive to the hotels and the BPS building (use this map if you're coming from the Candlewood). In short, to get to the Kellogg Center, you need to turn left onto Harrison (which is an opportunity to learn about the Michigan Left, where you go straight, turn around, and then turn right onto your destination street). To get to Owen Graduate center, you go straight on Trowbridge, then turn right at the next opportunity (onto Trowbridge), then turn left at the traffic light onto Farm lane, and then right at the third traffic light onto Shaw Lane. This will take you right past the Physics building to a small roundabout at Shaw and Bogue. Owen graduate center is on this corner.
Construction notice: that Wilson road is closed due to construction.

Ride-Sharing for those driving from Fermilab:

If you would are looking for someone to share a ride with, then check out the ride-sharing page.

Parking is available at the Wharton Center ramp. See the parking page for details.
