Scutum, the shield:
A modern constellation created by Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius
in 1690. Originally called Scutum Sobiescianum, Sobieski's Shield,
he created it to honor the Polish king John Sobieski III whose army
defeated the Turkish army in Vienna September of 1683. It is a small,
dim constellation that can be located between Aquila, the eagle,
and Sagittarius.
