Sceptrum et Manus Iustitiae, the scepter and the hand of justice:
Created in 1679 by French astronomer Augustin Royer, this constellation
was intended to honor King Louis XIV of France. The constellation
represented the royal scepter used by the king. It was composed
of stars mainly taken from Lacerta, the lizard. Because of its awkward
name it was never widely accepted and its stars were soon returned
to Lacerta, which became the official constellation for that part
of the sky.
