      BPS 1400 at 6:30pm
We will welcome our members back for the new semester with pizza and soda, discuss this semester's very full slate of upcoming shows, and briefly describe the officer elections that will take place later this year.

February 1st       Sidney Harris Premiere
      1:30-3:00pm at the MSU Museum
Science Theatre performed at the reception for the opening of an exhibit on science cartoonist Sidney Harris's work at the MSU Museum. We had hands-on demonstrations of tie-dye milk, polymer balloons, predator-prey relationships and adaptation, and helped you make your own silly putty!

MSU's student newspaper The State News featured an article on Science Theatre's performance at the MSU Museum for MSU's celebration of the Darwin bicentennial.

We will hold officer elections for the 2009-2010 academic year! Please remember to nominate yourself by email between Feb. 2nd and Feb. 9th at 8AM. You should have received details through a listserv email - send a message to an officer as soon as possible if you are interested in running for a position and did not receive the informational email. As always, we will also have pizza and soda and discuss this semester's slate of upcoming shows.

March 9-10th       Spring Break Trip to the Upper Peninsula
      Delta County, MI
Nine Science Theatre members traveled to Michigan's Upper Peninsula during MSU's Spring Braek to perform 25 shows throughout Delta County on March 9th and 10th. The volunteers split into three groups, performing liquid nitrogen, pressure, and general science shows.

Join us for Science Theatre's year-end celebration! We will have a free assortment of Subway sandwiches and cookies, cakes, and MSU Dairy Store ice cream. We will be presenting our first-annual Honorable Member Awards for volunteers who have made exceptional contributions to Science Theatre this year. Finally, we will hold focus-group sessions to give you a chance to suggest improvements to Science Theatre for next year.

      Introductory General Body Meetings
      Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building Rm. 1400
Science Theatre welcomes all interested MSU students to its introductory general body meetings. Free pizza and cookies will be provided. The meetings will last approximately one hour and will provide an overview of Science Theatre and our events for the 2009-2010 academic year. Come to whichever meeting time works better for you - the content of each meeting is the same!

September 26th       SCI-MA-TECH Famous Science Speaker Event
      1pm in Traverse City, MI
Science Theatre will perform a variety of stage demonstrations for a large audience at 1pm in the Lars Hockstad Auditorium of Central Grade School in Traverse City, MI. The more than hour-long performance will include Methanol Cannons, Non-Burning Money, Bernoulli's, and Liquid Nitrogen! Read the Press Release for more information.

October 22nd       General Body Meeting - Favorite Demonstrations Series
      Chemistry Building Rm. 138
Science Theatre will hold a general body meeting featuring the first in our Favorite Demonstrations series of lectures by Dr. Paul Hunter of the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Hunter has been performing chemistry demonstrations in the classroom at MSU for over three decades! He will perform two exciting and explosive chemistry demonstrations and share performance tips. All MSU students are welcome to attend.

Free food will be served in room 138 of the Chemistry Building at 4:45pm. Dr. Hunter's lecture will begin promptly at 5pm. Following Dr. Hunter's lecture, we will announce upcoming volunteering opportunities and discuss special projects.

Science Theatre's Halloween Party is a free event open to the general public, perfect for 3rd-5th graders! See spooky demonstrations, go trick or treating, and enter a costume contest - all in MSU's Abrams Planetarium! Doors open 5-6pm, you must RSVP to guarantee space at the event (capacity: 200 students and adults).

July 19th       Goodland Township Agriculture Fair
      Goodland Township, MI
Shannon, Nathan, and Asra led three agriculture-related hands-on demos (onion DNA extraction, predator/prey, and tie-dye milk) and performed two stage shows with the bed of nails.

August 21st       MSU Honors College Freshman Convocation
      5pm at Wharton Center, MSU
Shannon, Tess, and Nathan greeting incoming Honors College students with a small hands-on demo (Surface Area and Reaction Rate with potassium permanganate and glycerol) in the Wharton Center lobby.

      The field at the Auditorium, MSU
Shannon, Jessie, Steve, Dave, Tess, Nathan, and Asra manned a booth near the Auditorium passing out candy and flyers for the first general body meetings. Before rain ended the event, methanol cannons and colored water with dry ice were set up at the booth to draw attention.

Science Theatre members presented six demos simultaneously and continuously for six hours! Demos presented: Doppler ball, polymers, buffers and blood, angular momentum, density rainbow, collisions and conservation of energy.
