Since we are quickly running out of fossil fuels, are electric cars going to be the car of the future?

Running out of fossil fuels won’t make electric cars more important because electricity is still produced mostly from oil and coal.  Electricity can and is being produced from wind, solar, nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, but these are limited.

Electric cars do have advantages; they are quiet, easier to maintain and pollution-free.

Two energy sources scientists are working on are the fusion power plant and the Solar-Power-Satellite, both of which could make electricity cheaper.

The creation of fusion power plants, which generate energy by combining light elements into heavier ones, could make electric cars the cars of choice.

A Solar-Power-Satellite system would use huge reflectors in space to collect solar energy.  This energy would be beamed to Earth and converted to electricity.
