Introduction to SOAR Website Policies
The SOAR Archive and Discussion web site is intended to facilitate
communication among members of the SOAR consortium. There are two
categories of documents in the site. Public documents are open to
everyone with a web browser. Internal (private) documents, indicated
by square brackets [...] in text-mode
listings and color-coding in graphics-mode listings, are accessible only
by password. If you ought to have a password but do not have one, please
contact the Archivist . Most
private documents are accessible by any member of the consortium
institutions who have a password. However, the Interim Governance
Board, the SWG, and the Operations Committee each have a private area
called [Committee Business] which is accessible only by
members of the relevant committees.
Official committee documents may be submitted only by the chairpersons of the
relevant committee, or by someone the chairpersons designate. Any consortium
member may submit comments to the discussion sections.
Upon submission all documents, whether intended to be public or
private, will initially be placed in a private directory. Documents
which are intended to become public will be moved to a public directory
only after at least 3 days have passed. This is intended to allow
consortium members to comment before a document is released to the
general web readership.
