This directory contains links to the users' directories, as well as some general interest HTML files maintained by the MSU P-A Webmaster. Since the new Web server allows user-controlled access to users' own directory trees, and authorized non-users of this machine will have access through the /people/ directory tree, this directory is now almost obsolete except for backwards-compatibility. It will probably be drafted into some other functionality in the near future.

It was the root directory for www.pa.msu.edu's port 81 WWW server, and is the /users/ directory for its default port 80 WWW server.

Note: the port 81 WWW server was discontinued on 19 March 1995. In general, the URL conversions for links will follow the following pattern:

If you have port 81 links to be converted to default port links and these general rules do not seem to work, contact webmaster@www.pa.msu.edu for the proper new syntax (the actual file location may have moved as part of the overall WWW service revamping).
