The Monte Carlo for Resummed Boson Production and Decay

The structure of the Monte Carlo event generator is the same as popular program PAPAGENO, written by Ian Hinchliffe. The program uses VEGAS as integration routine to evaluate the phase space integrals. It produces the relevant distributions in forms of histograms. The input grid files are generated using a code called Legacy, which was written by C. Balazs, G. Ladinsky, P. Nadolsky and C.-P. Yuan. Legacy also uses various libraries of the CTEQ Collaboration, and it is developed and maintained by P. Nadolsky. For more information check http://hep.pa.msu.edu/wwwlegacy/.
Physics

ResBos computes the fully differential cross section d(sigma)/d(Q_T^B)/d(y^B)/d(Q^B)^2/d(Omega) for processes h1 h2 -> B(-> l1 l2) X in LO, or with NLO initial state QCD corrections, or with soft-gluon resummed initial state QCD corrections included. Above h1 and h2 are hadrons (pion, p, pBar or nucleon), B is a boson, [can be virtual photon, W+/- or Z0, in which case l1 and l2 are leptons], a Higgs boson [then l1 l2 are photons or Z0 bosons], or a gluon [then l1, l2 are top, and anti-top quarks]. B can also represent photon or Z0 boson pairs [in which case there's no decay into l1 l2]. Q_T^B is the B transverse momentum, y^B is the B rapidity, Q^B is the B invariant mass, Omega is the solid angle of l1, or if B is a boson pair then the solid angle of one of the bosons. All the above variables are understood in the LAB (hadronic CM) frame. The code implements the CSS resummation formalism extended to the decay lepton level (PLB355 (1995) 548 and hep-ph/9704258). It contains the exact matrix elements for the B production (including initial state soft gluon resummation effects) and for the decay. It contains the B, width and full spin-correlation effects (where applicable).

Compilation

ResBos was developed and tested on numerous platforms using various FORTRAN compilers. The source code is self-contained, for the purpose of the calculation it is not required to link with any libraries. However, the user has to link this code with the CERN libraries PACKLIB and KERNLIB to generate the HBook or NTuple Output. For Unix or Linux platforms see the makefile (included with the source) for compilation instructions.
