- Topics:
- Note that "topic" only means the topic the problems
directly relate to. The purpose of this information is only to
give you an idea of what kind of problems to expect.
- Material covered in Book Chapters 11, 12, 13-1, 13-2, 13-3
(not the proof, just the fact), 13-4
- Gravitation will not be covered in the exam
- "Covered" is defined by the lecture notes, CAPA homework, and quizzes
- Of course everything that has been covered in this
course so far might be needed to solve the problems.
(except for simple g on the surface of the earth, of course)
- Exam style:
- CAPA Homework style multiple choice questions
with scantron sheets
- Some questions will be very similar to CAPA homework questions
(though, because of the short exam time,
problems will be computational less extensive than some of the
more elaborate CAPA homework problems)
- Mix of questions probing understanding and problems,
where something needs to be calculated.
- For questions, where multiple answers are possible,
partial credit will be given. If a number has to be
calculated, no partical credit is given.
- What to bring to the exam:
- Calculator (nothing of use stored in it)
- Pencils and scratch papers
- One letter size sheet of paper with handwritten notes
(equations etc.)
Make sure to include the moments of inertia of simple shapes
(Book Table 11-2 on p. 227);
the ones you should know are hoop and solid cylinder.
