Scattered Thoughts About ...
... The Conflict Between Technocracy And Science
Humanity has experienced little change over the centuries in what keeps it
industrious. The temptation to be in absolute control is as seductive to
mankind as ever before, and became the ultimate goal of technological progress
in a technocrat-driven society.
Yet the recent technological advances are a mere by-product of a scientific
exploration of the world. Paradoxically, at the era of its greatest
achievements, the scientific approach has experienced fundamental limits of its
applicability. Natural sciences, using the tools of their trade, have
discovered that the object of their research, the world in its complexity,
transcends the human logic. Scientific research in its pure form, during its
attempt to expand the fundamental knowledge of mankind, can no longer evade an
intimate contact with the mystic dimension of the Universe. To a scientist,
research is not just a job, but rather a vocation to assist in the sacred act
of discovery and creation.
